Fishing and shellfish gathering

Shellfish gathering

Our coast offers a multitude of shells and shellfish: clams, cockles, wild mussels and oysters, razor shells, winkles, crabs or abalones are can be found during spring tides. Thank you for respecting this precious environment.

A few rules to follow:
-Replace the rocks that you have moved, fill up the holes that you have dug in the sand.
-Throw back to the sea catches that are too small.
-Fish only what you can eat today! The resource is exhaustible.
-Do not gather females with eggs.

Plastic slides mentioning the authorised size for shells as well as tide times are available for free at the Tourist Information Centre.

Watch out for the tide:

The process of tidesThe sea rises and falls 2 times a day, every 6 hours. The difference in height between high water and low water is defined by a ratio between 20 and 120. A high ratio is favorable to shellfish gathering.
