The Chapel of Vieux-Bourg
The Chapel of Vieux-bourg is located in Pléherel-Plage. It overlooks the beach of Anse du Croc and faces Cap Fréhel. The chapel was built near a christian graveyeard before year 1000 and its history of this chapel goes back 800 years.
Concerts are organised in this chapel during summer time and mass or weddings are regularly celebrated there.
Open every day except Sundays, in July and August, from 14.30 to 18.30. Guided tours upon request for groups over 5 people.
Chapel Saint Sébastien (1536)
A Templar chapel used to stand on the same location as the present chapel.
This chapel was a place of pilgrimage for the inhabitants of surrounding towns until the French revolution. The came here to pray Saint-Sébastien, healer of infectious diseases. The chapel is made of granite in a Gothic style with an influence of renaissance. It was listed as a historical monument in 1928.
Open every Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays in July and August, from 14.30 to 18.30. Guided tours upon request for groups.
Chapel of Sables d’Or les Pins.
Following the creation of the seaside resort of Sables d’Or les Pins, a need to create a place of worship appeared. Temporary, it was first a wooden church which was finally built permanently in 1956.
Open every day in July and August, from 14.00 to 19.00.
Church of the Burg of Fréhel
Built from 1856 to 1870 to replace the church of Pléhérel, it also aimed at replacing the centre of the burg inland. Thanks to contributors and volunteers, this very simple church is full of memories.
Beautiful stained glass window in the Art-déco style (modern) figuring the welcome to paradise of Saint-Sébastien. One of the few stained glass windows Art-déco assembled before 2nd World War. Baptismal font from the former church of Vieux-Bourg in Pléherel-Plage.
